I am trying to find out if anyone knows how I can find old newspaper articles or anything that would have to do with the Square Dancers from Perry County that went to the Chicago World's Fair in 1933, my understanding is that they first won a competition in Knoxville, TN that qualified them to go on to Chicago & the World's Fair. Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Families are from Hazard, Lothair, Kentucky My great grandmothers name was Lue Cinda nickname: Lula (Brown) Gibson Born: Dec. 25, 1881 Died Jan. 23, 1956 in Lothair, her husband James (Jim) Gibson Born: June 14, 1876 Died: July 27, 1940. Chapman's: grandfather Edgar Chapman (coal miner / Black Diamond Mines) and grandmother Stella Mae (Gibson) Chapman lived in Hazard, Kentucky. Children names: Eugene, Kenneth, James, Reda Mae, Marvin and Gerald. My father Eugene was born in Hazard in 1931. I hope someone can help me out, thank you.

Hello Hazard, my name is Everett James Combs and I am 34 years old. I grew up in the head of brownsfork and am trying to find some information on my grandfather James Combs which was married to my grandmother Margeret Combs that are both deceased. I think he was a deputy back in the 1940's but not real sure on the date. I went to school at A.B. combs elementary and M.C. napier. I was supposed to graduate in 1993 but didnt get to finish school, I am currently attending college here in Alabama where I now live. I really get homesick sometimes and miss my family and friends. My father deceased last year his name is Thomas hiram combs(went by HARM). If anyone knows me or went to school with me I would like to hear hear from you.

After having read about Minnie Bates and Doyle Yancy, I tried to leave a message that stated that Naomi Judd did not have her facts straight. They were my neighbors and good ones , with their three children. They did not live in a cabin, but In a house in Groundhog Hollow. He did not leave her, as stated, but they all left together and moved to the Dayton area where they had the fourth child. Doyle is a good friend of mine and Naomi should get her ducks in a row before writilng such lies.
