Behind the soda fountain at Begley Drug in Big Bottom in Hazard 1946 or 1947 . Soda Jerks are Anita __, Vera Feltner, Ollie Banks, who was the wife of the police chief Sam Banks, and "Red". Can't remember her real name.
About 1947: Vera Feltner, Betty Strong, Ella Sizemore & Frank Gilbert waiting for our turn to take a ride in a very small plane over Hazard.
Back for a visit in 1966. This is a view just across the road from the Carrs Fork Coal Company commissary. The small trail up the old slate dump and hill was made by a lot of barefooted kids running up and down it. At the top of the hill was the mine and on up was another hill was the camp house that we lived in just above the mine. The houses were all long gone. In the foreground is my Sister Nett Fields.
1966 photo of the Carrs Fork Coal Company tipple.
This is what was left of the Carrs Fork Blacksmith shop in 1966. My father Bradley Feltner was the Blacksmith for many years.
Don Fouts and myself in front of the restaurant in 1966. I worked for Don in the 40's moved away about 1950.
